The Mooswaldmühle on German Milling Day 2009

The Mooswaldmühle is a historic watermill in the Sulzbach district of Lauterbach in the Black Forest . It is driven by an overshot water wheel that is fed from a grinding pond by a "wooden barge". The roof is thatched .

history

Up until the Thirty Years' War there were two ban mills in Lauterbach , one of which was in Sulzbach, which was destroyed in the war. As a result, the Mooswaldmühle was built as the court mill of the Mooswaldhof. It was first mentioned in 1657. In 1772 another farmer bought half of the right of use. After 1800, the number of users continued to increase.

In the 1980s, the Lauterbach community acquired the mill from the remaining six shareholders in order to restore it and make it accessible to the public. It is fully functional and will be demonstrated on request.
