Morning Has Broken is a compilation album by singer and songwriter Cat Stevens . It appeared in 1981 in two versions, the version published exclusively in German-speaking countries as well as in the Netherlands and Spain contained 18 instead of 12 titles.

history

At the time of publication, Cat Stevens had already made his conversion to Islam and the associated end of his career public; his last studio album Back to Earth was released in 1978. In his honor, the publication of Morning Has Broken was intended, which was largely a best-of compilation of the artist's most successful titles. Only the pieces If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out and Don't Be Shy from the film Harold and Maude had not yet been released. The title Glad I'm Alive was first on the B-side of the single Morning Has Broken , later on the compilation album Footsteps in the Dark: Greatest Hits Vol. 2 under the name I Want to Live in a Wigwam .

Another compilation with the same title was released by Island Records in 1981 with a track list shortened to 12 tracks.
