The mosque of the Pasha Jakowali Hassan (Hungarian: Jakováli Hasszán dzsámija ) is a mosque in the city center of Pécs (German Fünfkirchen) in Hungary .

history

Jakowali Hassan Pascha had the mosque built in the second half of the 16th century. After the Turks were driven out, the building was used as a chapel of St. John of Nepomuk from 1702 to 1732 and then as a hospital chapel. During the restoration in the 20th century, the later accessories were removed. There is an art exhibition inside.

investment

The dome of the mosque rests over an octagonal drum on a massive square structure with keel-arched windows. The finely crafted portal decorated with stalactites on the northwest side and the mihrab were restored. During the restoration, Kufic Koran quotations and lush plant patterns came to light again. The 23 m high minaret was partially supplemented in the 19th century.
