Motors (waltz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Motoren is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 265). The work was performed for the first time on February 10, 1862 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The waltz was written in the carnival of 1862 for the ball of engineering and technology students at the University of Vienna and was dedicated to these students. With this work, Johann Strauss sets a further musical monument to the industrial and technical progress of the early days . However, the work did not get too much public response. It was routinely featured in the press. It was an average work by the composer, but nothing more. As a result, it disappeared again from the concert schedule. This was also due to the large number of Strauss' compositions in those years, which displaced each other from the concert plans.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 6 minutes and 34 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
