Ibbenbueren motorcycle museum
The Ibbenbüren motorcycle museum , based in Ibbenbüren (North Rhine-Westphalia), is a privately run motorcycle museum . The museum is located in a former village school building in Ibbenbüren-Lehen. The private motorcycle collection was founded in 1978 by Robert Stockmann, who still runs the museum today.
Exhibits
The exhibition includes more than 170 motorized two-wheelers , from bicycles with auxiliary engines ( NSU-Quickly ) from the 1950s to the heaviest motorcycle made in Germany, the Münch Mammut 1200 TTS .
In addition to machines from the early days of motorcycle construction, motorcycles from the time before the Second World War (including Mars, Diehl, Stock, Wanderer) and motorcycles from the boom years in German motorcycle construction in the 1950s form the focus of the exhibition (including Adler , BMW , DKW , Imme , Hercules , Horex , Kreidler , Maico , MZ , NSU , Victoria and Zündapp ). All vehicles on display have information boards about the years of construction as well as technical details and special design features.
Many documents typical of the time such as operating instructions, spare parts, engines, brand signs and old motorcycle clothing as well as helmets give the exhibition a special touch. Among other things, a cutaway model of a 1000 Yamaha is exhibited, which provides an insight into motorcycle technology.
The museum is known nationwide as a regular destination for the traditional international motorcycle veterans' meeting, which takes place annually over Whitsun in Ibbenbüren and is the largest event of its kind on the European continent.
