MoTuL was the brand name of a German racing car manufacturer based in Bensberg .

history

In the 1950s, Walter Löffelsender founded a car dealership in Bensberg near Cologne . Löffelsender first sold and serviced British automobiles and then became an authorized Renault dealer. Through his activities in the ACBL automobile club, he came to automobile racing in the mid-1960s and got to know the Formula Vee vehicles from Apal and Beach Car.

Racing car construction

The brand name MOTUL consists of Mo tors Tu ning L together öffelsender. When the boom in the popular small Formula V 1200 racing car began in Germany, Löffelsender decided to design its own vehicle in 1968. 1973 saw success with the newly designed two-carburetor Formula V 1300. Löffelsender's son won the ONS Cup and the father won the constructors' title with 6 wins out of 10 races for the ONS Formula Vee Cup. Walter spoon transmitter jr. 1973 German champion in a MoTuL Formula Vee.

After that, the Formula Super Vee designed by Löffelsender was further developed and used. Well-known drivers back then were Helmut Bross and the Swiss Marc Surer . MoTuL also manufactured its own racing engines according to the Formula Vau regulations. In addition to the racing cars, these engines were also built in series and sold to customers.

In January 1974 Walter Löffelsender senior died at the age of 46 and MoTuL had to close. Many of the around 80 built racing cars are still ready for use today in collectors' hands.
