Barbara Jezeršek (born October 31, 1986 in Kranj ) is an Australian and formerly Slovenian cross-country skier .

Career

Jezeršek has been participating in competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2002 . Since 2006 she has been competing in the cross-country skiing world cup and the alpine cup , which she finished in 2012 with fifth place overall. She ran her first World Cup race in January 2006 in Oberstdorf , which she did not finish. The Tour de Ski 2007/08 she graduated with a 42nd place in the overall standings. Her best placement at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 was 43rd in the 30 km mass start race. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she reached 40th place over 10 km freestyle, 17th place in the 15 km pursuit race and 14th place with the relay. She got her first World Cup points at the Tour de Ski 2010/11 . Her best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo were 20th place in the 15 km pursuit race and seventh place in the team sprint. At the Tour de Ski 2011/12 she finished 35th in the overall ranking. Her best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme were 40th place in the 15 km skiathlon and 14th place with the relay. She finished the Tour de Ski 2013/14 in 29th place. Her best results at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were 19th place in the 15 km skiathlon and 11th place in the relay. In the summer of 2015, she won four races at the 2015 Australia / New Zealand Cup and thus also achieved first place in the overall cup standings.

Jezeršek has been flying the Australian flag since November 2016. Her best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti were 24th place in the skiathlon and 15th place with the relay. In the summer of 2017, like two years before, she won the overall standings of the Australia / New Zealand Cup with four wins . In August 2017 she won the 42 km freestyle at the Kangaroo Hoppet . The following year she won again at the Kangaroo Hoppet. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she finished 39th in the skiathlon, 33rd place over 10 km freestyle and 12th place together with Jessica Yeaton in the team sprint.
