Kangaroo Hoppet

The Kangaroo Hoppet is a ski marathon and one of sixteen races in the Worldloppet series. It takes place in Falls Creek , a skiing region near Mount Beauty in the northeast of the Australian state of Victoria , and always on the last Saturday in August. It is one of the three Worldloppet races in the southern hemisphere. The run was first held in 1991. The organizer of the fun run is the “Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club”.

There are three races: the actual Kangaroo Hoppet over 42 kilometers in free style, the Australian Birkebeiner over 21 kilometers and the Joey Hoppet over seven kilometers. The men's record winner is the Swiss Valerio Leccardi with five wins, the most successful woman is the Australian Belinda Phillips , who won the main race three times.
