Mozilla Prism (formerly known as WebRunner called) was a free runtime environment for Web applications in a desktop environment integration. It was developed as part of the Mozilla project .
Prism makes it possible to start the desired website or application directly from the desktop in a separate process from the web browser and to configure it independently of this. A slimmed-down Firefox is started: without the browser-typical controls and without the menu , so that only the controls brought from the website are available.

Mozilla has announced additional functionality such as 3D support. The offline data storage introduced with version 3 of Mozilla Firefox is also available in Prism, with separate storage in the form of a SQLite database being provided for each web application that is run with Prism .

Prism is available as a standalone program for Windows , macOS, and Linux . In addition, a Firefox extension is provided which makes it possible to set up a web application for use with Prism directly when you visit Firefox with little effort. According to Mozilla Labs, which hosts the project, it is so far a prototype.

The project was officially announced on October 24, 2007; At that time, only the stand-alone program was available under version number 0.8. Currently (October 2011) version 1.0b4, based on Gecko 1.9.2, is up to date.

On February 1, 2011, Mozilla announced that Prism was being discontinued in favor of working on Chromeless . However, this project has now also been discontinued.
