Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom

Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom (* 1975 in Meadowlands , Soweto ) is a South African theater maker , screenwriter and theater director .

Life

Grootboom grew up with his grandparents. His grandmother, who was the school principal, made sure he graduated from high school and went to Witwatersrand University to study medicine . However, he broke off his studies very soon, as his interests were turned to the theater. He began writing screenplays for film and television. He has been with the South African State Theater since 2002 . His tasks there include, among other things, the promotion of previously unknown actors and theater groups.

Grootboom's own plays include an adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's dance dance entitled Foreplay from 2009. The play was performed in the same year at the Theater Royal Stratford East in London, England .
