The Muckle Bluff is a rock cliff on the south coast of Elephant Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises 8 km west of Walker Point .
Participants in the UK Joint Services Expedition (1970–1971) mapped the cliff. It was given its descriptive name in 1971 by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee . The word muckle , borrowed from the Scottish Gaelic language, means big .
