Multi-factor authentication

The multi-factor authentication ( MFA ), also multifactor authentication, is a generalization of the two-factor authentication , in which the access authorization is checked using several independent characteristics (factors). The Federal Office for Information Security has also issued recommendations for multi-factor authentication for cloud applications in its IT-Grundschutzkatalogues .
