Moomin World (Muumimaailma) is a theme park founded in 1993 on the west coast of Finland , the central theme of which is the Moomins . The park is located in the town of Naantali , on the island of Kailo. You can only go to Moominworld on foot. A 250 meter long bridge leads to the island from the old town of Naantali. The island of Kailo is a local recreation area of ​​the city, about two thirds of its area is available to the Moomin world. In the winter time, leisure time is also allowed in the park area free of charge, because the Moomin World is only open in the summer months. However, there is a week-long winter carnival in February.

Theme park idea

The idea of ​​a Moomin World was born when Dennis Livson, a TV producer who also put the Moomin on TV, visited the island. He thought she looked just like the TV show's Moomin Valley.

In 2006 Moominworld was the most popular tourist attraction in southwest Finland with over 280,000 visitors. Moominworld also enjoyed international success: in 2005 the British newspaper Independent voted it one of the ten best theme parks in the world; In 2008 Moominworld received the international prize for amusement parks, the golden pony prize.

Sights on the island include the Moomin House, the Emma Theater and the Fairy Tale Trail. You can also meet characters from the mummy stories in the theme park.
