Jeffrey Joseph Giuliano (born June 20, 1979 in Nashua , New Hampshire ) is a former American ice hockey player who was under contract with the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League from 2009 to 2015 . He is married and has two children.
Career
Jeff Giuliano began his ice hockey career as a child and already celebrated his first successes with the school team. In 1997 and 1998 he was named Most Valuable Player at St. Paul's School in the Independent School League . After graduating from school, he attended Boston College , where he also became a member of the ice hockey team. 1999 and 2001 he was in the All-Star team of Hockey East - Division elected in 2001, he won with his team and the NCAA championship. In his final year at the university, he took on the role of captain .
The first professional season Giuliano played half with the Reading Royals in the East Coast Hockey League . At the same time he found his way into the organization of the Los Angeles Kings and signed a contract with the AHL farm team Manchester Monarchs . In November 2005, the striker made the leap into the NHL team of the Kings and completed a total of 48 games for Los Angeles during the season. In the 2006/07 season , the striker was sidelined for a long time due to a serious injury. Only in the play-offs in 2007 did the American return to the team in Manchester, he was no longer nominated for NHL games. From December 2007 Giuliano finally ran again on a regular basis in the NHL.
In the summer of 2008 Giuliano signed a contract with HK Dinamo Minsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . However, since he had problems with the style of play and the language barrier, the contract was terminated five months later. At the end of October of the following year, the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League provided him with a one-month trial contract. In his second game Giuliano received a game misconduct penalty so that, in combination with the international break, he was only able to play two games for the Iserlohner until half of the month. In the following five games he finally found a bond with the team and scored his first goal and an assist in the game against the Augsburg Panthers . Even with dedication and struggle, he provided further arguments for a new contract, which the fans honored and celebrated after the game. On November 30, 2009, the Roosters extended their contract with the American until the end of the season. With Daniel Sparre and Brian Swanson in a row, the defensive striker also set offensive accents. The wages were a new two-year contract. His consistently good performance, the will to fight and the enthusiasm in the following seasons brought Giuliano another contract extension by two years in January 2012. After he was hit in the face in the league game against the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers on November 14, 2014 , he was out until the end of the season and then ended his active career. Since the 2015/16 season he has been working as an assistant coach for the Manchester Monarchs.
Jeff Giuliano is considered a good team player who compensates for a lack of talent and his rather small size with fighting spirit and is therefore also versatile. His skating skills are also praised.
