Mummy Nanny - Our Mummy is the Best is a French-German cartoon series from 1999. The series was produced on behalf of France 2 and Super RTL . The series is about a resurrected Egyptian mummy who works as a nanny.

action

In ancient Egypt , the untalented young sorceress Nil accidentally steals the shadow of Trist-O-Tis, a friend of her uncle and teacher Atonkelton. Out of shame, she hides in an empty pyramid, where she recites a spell on a wall and is transformed into a mummy , which hides a treasure map in its bandages and which is resurrected should anyone ever open her sarcophagus.

5000 years later, Nils sarcophagus is found and brought to Europe. There the unworldly couple Wunderlich are looking for an au pair for their two children Alex and Samanta. When they want to pick up the vicious and strict new nanny at the airport, the children find Nils sarcophagus and bring her to life. On the spur of the moment, they pass Nil as the ordered nanny and take her home with them. There, the 5,000-year-old mummy turns the family's life upside down. Nils Onkel Atonkelton and Trist-O-Tis, who can get through a time portal, and crooks Boss-A-Nova with his henchmen Thief and Blondie, who are on the hunt for the mummy's treasure map, cause additional problems.

Characters

  • Nil is a 5000 year old mummy who was brought to life by an ancient spell and now works as a housemaid and nanny for the Wunderlichs. She has magical powers, but they always backfire. Their old-fashioned way of life and their lack of understanding of technology are still never noticed. A treasure map is hidden in her bandages, which she does not know herself. Nor does she know that she is being hunted by Boss-A-Nova and his henchmen.
  • Alex Wunderlich is the son of the Wunderlichs, brother of Samanta and probably the most intelligent in the house. In contrast to his parents, he sees everything. He knows Nile's secret and stands behind her.
  • Samanta Wunderlich is the daughter in the house and sister of Alex. She loves video games and girl stuff. She also knows Nile's secret, but is against magic. She is also very enthusiastic about TV presenter Arnold.
  • Julius Wunderlich is the father of Alex and Samanta and a gifted writer. Because he is constantly trying to get used to his characters in a novel, he is extremely unworldly and never realizes what is happening around him. He doesn't know Nil's secret and never even notices it.
  • Dorothea Wunderlich is the mother of Alex and Samanta and has a doctorate in chemistry and biology . She also doesn't know Nil's secret and otherwise prefers to be busy with her experiments than with anything else. A running gag is their extremely dangerous driving style.
  • Boss-A-Nova is a gang boss who wants to grab the Wunderlichs' mummy to get the treasure map in the bandages. With his henchmen Longfinger and Blondie, he constantly tries to break into the Wunderlichs' house to get the mummy, because he believes that the Wunderlichs know and are criminals themselves. He doesn't know that the mummy is Nile.
  • Atonkelton and Trist-O-Tis are the former Nile magic teachers . Trist-O-Tis has been severely depressed since losing his shadow and blames Atonkelton's niece Nil for it. Atonkelton, however, understands the Nile. Both can get into the present through a time portal as soon as someone in the future utters the name of the immortal Pharaoh (or the invitation to sit down, 'Sit down!').
  • Arnold is the extremely stupid and greedy host on local television. He is the most gifted man and is loved by all women. He is always there to report on things the Wunderlichs are involved in.
