Ammunition purchase license

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Germany , the ammunition purchase certificate ( MES ) is a license under the law on weapons that entitles the holder to purchase and possess the ammunition listed on it . The requirements for issuing an ammunition purchase license in Germany are regulated in Section 10 (3) WaffG .

The authority enters the ammunition that the entitled person may acquire and own in the ammunition purchase certificate. The MES is limited to six years with regard to the purchase of ammunition, after which it continues to apply indefinitely with regard to the possession of the acquired ammunition.

Sport shooters and hunters usually receive their ammunition purchase authorization with an entry in the weapons possession card (WBK), or hunters for long gun ammunition with a valid hunting license .

For this reason, the ammunition purchase certificate is rarely issued as a permit. The following groups of people are the exception:

  • Ammunition collector
  • expert
  • Shooting sports director
  • Shooting range operator
  • Farmers

The ammunition purchase certificate can only be issued for certain calibers or ammunition of all types, with the exception of prohibited ammunition or ammunition subject to the War Weapons Control Act. A restriction is useful if z. B. only a certain type of ammunition can be fired on the stand. Diabolos and projectiles are not subject to the Weapons Act.

Collectors usually get the note "In the smallest packaging unit", which means the individual sale, since German gun law only provides for the sale in unopened sales packaging. Farmers have a need under gun law to purchase pyro pop cartridges to drive away harmful birds. In this case, the ammunition purchase license is limited to the purchase of "15mm pyro cartridges".

The administrative fees for an ammunition purchase license are around 40 euros, depending on the weapons authority. With regard to reliability and personal suitability, the same standards apply as for the gun ownership card.

The Weapons Act does not differentiate between owning and carrying ammunition. Anyone who carries ammunition on their man owns only. Ammunition for weapons with the PTB seal can be "released" from the age of 18; H. can be acquired without a gun license.

Storage of ammunition

Ammunition must be kept in a locked container regardless of the requirement for a permit. A locked container is the minimum standard for storing weapons and ammunition. For the common storage of weapons and ammunition in a B-cabinet, a tightly closed container is sufficient as an inner compartment for the storage of ammunition. In addition, the "crosswise" storage of firearms and unrelated ammunition in a security container of security level A or B is permitted.
