The Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation (Grenoble) is a history museum (or society museum ) in Grenoble , France , in the Isère department . It documents the French Resistance and the Maquis, especially in nearby Vercors .
The museum has around 5000 exhibits. There is the possibility of seeing and hearing sound documents, photos and films. There are five thematic focuses: the emergence of the resistance, the maquis , everyday repression, the restoration of the republic in 1944 and the moral legacy of the resistance. The museum opened in 1966 in a different building covering 170 square meters and has been located in the current building in the city center since 1994, which was built in 1853. The department is responsible for the museum.
