The opponens digiti minimi muscle ( Latin for "small toe counterpart") is a skeletal muscle of the foot. It arises together with the short small toe flexor ( flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle ) on the plantar (lower) side of the base of the 5th metatarsal, on the long sole ligament ( ligamentum plantare longum ) and the tendon sheath of the long fibula muscle ( musculus peroneus longus ). It starts at the outer edge of the fifth metatarsal bone ( Os metatarsale quintum ).
