Museo Etnográfico e Histórico Es Celler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Museo Etnográfico e Histórico Es Celler is a public museum on the protected small Balearic island of Cabrera .

In the converted former bodega (Catalan: Celler ) exhibits on the ethnology, history and natural history of the Cabrera archipelago off the Mallorcan coast are shown. The bodega's former warehouse was renovated in 2009 and turned into a museum.

There is a botanical garden in front of the museum building, where many of the plants native to Cabrera can be seen. 21% of all endemisms in the Balearic Islands are native to the Cabrera Archipelago. The museum is managed by the Palma National Park Office (Oficina Administrativa del Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre del Archipiélago de Cabrera) based in Palma .

Trivia

Since the beginning of 2014 there has been a Refugio on Cabrera near the museum, which offers visitors to the islands who do not visit the island with their own boat the opportunity to stay in twelve rooms with 24 beds for a maximum stay of two nights.
