The Museo Numismático Aruba was a museum that dealt with numismatics . It was located on the Caribbean island of Aruba in Oranjestad .

history

The museum, which emerged from the private collection of collector J. Mario Odor and has a collection of more than 35,000 coins from 400 countries, was opened in November 1981. The sculptures Don Quixote and Sancho Pansas line its entrance.

The museum includes the most extensive numismatic collection in Central America and the Caribbean, and it also offers a look at coins from the Roman Empire, Ancient Greece, Chinese dynasties, India, Egypt and the Byzantine Empire. For lovers of Latin America, the collection offers extensive documentation of the history of coins in the old world up to the empire of Peter I of Brazil , the Argentine confederation in Spanish-Mexico, the colonial times of Bolivia, the Republic of Granada and the Venezuelan Guiana.

A special room is dedicated to the occupation time in Japan , the Nazi concentration camps and Operation Desert Storm.

After the founder's death on February 25, 2001, his wife and daughter initially continued to run the museum. The museum was later closed. The collection was sold.
