Museo de Marín

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Museo de Marín was a doll museum in the Andalusian town of Chiclana de la Frontera in the province of Cádiz .

The Marin Museum was located next to the Marin dolls factory founded by José Marín Verdugo in 1928.

The museum, which opened in 1997, showed the craft methods and developments of the Marin model to this day. It was the most extensive exhibition and collection of Marin dolls in all of Spain, all handcrafted in the typical Andalusian costume.

Since the death of José Marín in 1984, the production was led by his son Ernesto Marín. The company sold its products worldwide under the motto of the company founder: “MARIN-CHICLANA, MUÑECAS ESPAÑOLAS PARA EL MUNDO”.

The factory and museum in Chiclana de la Frontera closed in 2014.

In 1976, the government of Spain awarded José Marín Verdugo the Medalla al Mérito del Trabajo Medal of Merit for his life's work .
