The Helgoland Museum deals with natural history and the local history of the island of Helgoland . It is supported by the foundation established in 1996.

A first museum on Heligoland was opened in 1899, but was destroyed on October 18, 1944, when Heinrich Gätke's bird collection was the main attraction.

Today's museum had a scientist, Michael Peters, as museum director from 1996 to 1999. Today it is run as a local museum by committed laypeople. In addition to many exhibitions, the expansion of a museum courtyard with small lobster booths on various topics, it is also known for the replica of the Heligoland stone box .

The Bolzendahlsche chronicle is kept in the museum.
