The Mayer van den Bergh Museum in Antwerp houses medieval, Renaissance and Baroque art from the collection of Fritz Mayer van den Bergh (1858–1901). The collection he built up and transferred by his mother Henriëtte Mayer van den Bergh in memory of her deceased son 1901–1904 in the form of today's museum shows paintings, sculptures, tapestries , drawings, stained glass , ivory , manuscripts and cabaret of international standing.
One focus of the collection is on art from the 14th to 16th centuries. Henriette Mayer van den Bergh had a 16th-century building specially designed for the presentation of the collection built next to the family home. Both buildings now house the museum's exhibition rooms.
