history

The museum was founded on April 13, 2007 by former students of the Moscow Polytechnic University - Alexander Stakhanov, Alexander Wugman and Maksim Pinigin - and was located in the air raid shelter of the university dormitory . At that time the collection consisted of 37 slot machines. It was only open on Wednesdays by prior arrangement. The founders of the museum found the first objects all over the country: in landfills, in abandoned pioneer camps, parks, cultural centers, movie theaters, or they were bought in the park “ Prjamikowa ” on Taganka . Almost all the machines no longer worked, and you had to assemble a whole from three defective ones. In April 2010 the museum moved to the former Rot Front factory building on Malaya Ordynka Street and was open daily

On June 15, 2013, a museum branch was opened in St. Petersburg on Konjuschennaya Square. It is located in one that was used as a coach house in the 18th century . In the days of the USSR there were garages, repair and production workshops of the taxi depot here. The collection of this branch includes over 50 working slot machines. According to the museum, the Petersburg branch had 23,000 visitors in 2016.

At the end of August 2014, the third museum branch in Kazan was opened on Kremlin Street with around 40 slot machines. The museum was closed on January 12, 2015.

The first foreign slot machines were shown in 1971 in the USSR at the attraction-71 exhibition in Gorky Park . Independent models were only produced in the USSR a few years later. For example, the slot machine was Seegefecht from radio engineering operation Serpuchowski made, the engineers copied foreign slot machines, but they lacked resources and components for a perfect imitation. Instead of using a modern processor, engineers were forced to replace complicated processors with simpler ones. A total of about 90 types of gaming machines were reproduced in the USSR, some as exact copies ( product piracy ) of models produced in the West.

In the early years, all slot machines were owned by the Soyuz attraction . At the beginning of the eighties, this association was replaced by another company that only dealt with the manufacture and sale of slot machines. With the collapse of the USSR, the production of slot machines ended.
