The museum for rural handicraft and industrial history, landscape and cultural development is a local museum in Eversberg , a district of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Meschede.

history

It was founded in 1934 by Lorenz Pieper and the teacher Peter Wiese. Some of the exhibits were lost during World War II , so the museum remained closed until 1953. Today it is maintained and operated by the municipality and the Eversberg tourist office.

Exhibition and exhibits

Rural handicraft and industrial history, landscape and cultural development are documented; Examples: Construction methods and materials of early house construction are shown, as well as farm work in the yard and field. This includes activities such as harvesting grain, weaving and cobbling, and forest work. The rural housekeeping is evident from the many exhibits from the kitchen area. Some stove plates and religious figures are also shown . On the upper floor there are many contributions to the local history of Eversberg.

building

The one and a half- story half- timbered house with a slate front dates from 1756. In 1939 it became the property of the city of Eversberg. When Eversberg was incorporated into Meschede in 1975 , the city of Meschede became the owner. She manages the building, which has been on the city's list of monuments since 1984, together with the Eversberger Heimatmuseumsverein . Today there is also a small post office counter in the building.
