The Museum for Early Industrialization is an industrial and social history museum in Wuppertal - Barmen . It is part of the historical center .

The theme of the museum is the early development of industry in Wuppertal in the diverse interplay of technical, social, economic and mentality-historical factors. The focus is on the textile industry , the leading branch for the early industrialization of the region. The metal industry, which still dominates certain parts of the city, remains hidden.

The museum opened in 1983 and was the first of its kind at the time.
