Korsun Cauldron Museum

The Museum of the Korsun Cauldron ( Ukrainian Музей історії Корсунь-Шевченківської битви ) in the Ukrainian city ​​of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyj is dedicated to the Korsun Cauldron from the Cherkassy Battle .

The museum was created on June 28, 1945 on the basis of a decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR to commemorate the victory of the Soviet troops . In 1947 the first exhibition was opened on an area of ​​158 m². The more than 4000 exhibits include a uniform of Ivan Stepanowitsch Konew and personal items of Wilhelm Stemmermann .

Until 1957 it was referred to as the Historical Museum .

The museum is housed in the former palace of the Lopukhin-Demidov princes on Kozjubynsky Island in Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi. This castle ensemble was founded in 1782 by Prince S. Poniatowski as a summer residence.
