Museum village Seppensen
The Museumsdorf Seppensen is an open-air museum in Buchholz - Seppensen .
Aligned around a central village square there are four half-timbered houses, a brick house and an apiary. The listed former Seppenser village school has been located here since 1880 as a brick building with a pan roof. Today it houses u. a. the local history museum and the local history library. The two- column farmhouse ( Sniers Hus ) from 1696 with a hearth fire without a smoke outlet is thatched; it was moved here from Regesbostel. It is used for club events and u. a. also for weddings of the Buchholz registry office. In the bakery from Kampen that was built around 1840, bread and butter cakes are baked today at the regular events. The ensemble was further supplemented by a pan-covered drive-through barn made of Otter, whose first life there began around 1780. Farm equipment is shown here today. In 2013 the historic blacksmith's shop with the establishment of the last Buchholz village blacksmith was built on the site. The half-timbered building was built in Lüdingen around 1800 and initially served as a bakery. The forge still works regularly today. Demonstrations and blacksmithing courses are often given here. The beehive, which was built in 2012, is modeled on a "bee fence" that is common in the heath. There are demonstrations especially for school classes and kindergarten groups. The museum grounds are freely accessible. The interiors of the buildings can be viewed at public events, during regular openings from April to September on the 1st and 3rd Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and by appointment. Every first Saturday of the month there is a museum chat from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., during which the association members report on their work in the museum village.
In summer there is an open door on the 3rd Saturday of each month , where baked goods are offered and demonstrations take place in the blacksmith's and apiary. Further annual days of action are the art and land market in May and the village and museum festival in June.
The museum is operated by the history and museum association Buchholz und Umgebung eV.
