Museum courtyard Göhren
The Museumshof Göhren is an open-air museum in Göhren on the Mönchgut peninsula belonging to Rügen .
location
It is located on the southeast side of Strandstrasse at Strandstrasse 4, right at the junction with Nordperdstrasse .
History and exhibition
On the initiative of local researcher Ruth Bahls , the museum courtyard was opened on August 11, 1971. This makes it the oldest open-air museum on Rügen and one of the Mönchgut museums . The museum includes the farm of a Mönchgut fisherman's farmer with a house, pigsty, stable barn and the so-called black shed. It shows the original development of Göhren in the time before the onset of spa tourism.
The barn is built in half-timbered construction and its core dates back to around 1680. The house was built around 1850. The first documented mention of the homestead is from 1574. After the ransom from serfdom in 1847, the farm with an arable area of 17.5 hectares was managed by a full farmer, fisherman and pilot.
Equipment from the everyday work of fishermen and rural craftsmen such as handicraft tools, carriages, wagons and agricultural machines is also on display. The topics milk processing and butter production are also dealt with. In addition, beekeeping and traditional house building are also shown. In addition, a historic hand pressure syringe from the Göhrener fire brigade is on display. A farm garden with typical useful and ornamental plants belongs to the farm .
The museum courtyard is currently (as of 2017) closed. It is intended to lease it to third parties and operate it as an adventure courtyard.
