Music concepts
The music concepts are a musicological series that was founded in 1977 by Heinz-Klaus Metzger and Rainer Riehn . The focus of the periodical is on the musical avant-garde of all epochs. Ulrich Tadday has been the publisher since 2004 .
Content orientation
Based on the musical aesthetics of Theodor W. Adorno , the series Music Concepts is not only dedicated to composers of the 20th century, who are regarded by the editors as progressive. The series combines musical tradition and innovation, past and present, by professing new music and considering older music. The music concepts either deal with a composer and his work or with a current problem that gives food for thought in terms of music aesthetics, history and sociology. The series is aimed not only at a musicologist but also at a readership interested in music.
history

In 1983 the editorial team was awarded the German Critics' Prize.
