edition text + criticism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

edition text + kritik is a publishing house with a cultural studies program focus, especially on literature , music and film of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Publishing history

The publisher owes its name to the magazine TEXT + KRITIK , which was founded in 1963 by Heinz Ludwig Arnold and taken over by Boorberg Verlag in 1969 . In addition to the magazine, a broad, humanities program soon developed with more than 1000 available titles from the fields of literature, music, film and cultural studies, which also contains many series and reference works in loose-leaf form. Around 60 new titles appear every year.

On January 1st, 1975 edition text + kritik became an independent publisher in the legal form of a GmbH, at the beginning of 2009 it was reintegrated into Boorberg Verlag. Heinz Ludwig Arnold remained editor of the magazine TEXT + KRITIK until his death in 2011. Berndt Oesterhelt has been the publisher since 1975. Edition text + kritik is based in Munich .

Publishing program

In addition to TEXT + KRITIK, the publishing house publishes the magazines Musik-Konzept , founded by Heinz-Klaus Metzger and Rainer Riehn and published today by Ulrich Tadday , and Film-Concepts , founded by Thomas Koebner and edited by Michaela Krützen , Fabienne Liptay and Johannes Wende . Both series are mostly devoted from issue to issue to an artist and his work, with special consideration of the political, cultural and historical context. The FilmMusik series , edited by Guido Heldt , Tarek Krohn , Peter Moormann and Willem Strank , has been published since 2014. It deals with the interaction between film and music and is dedicated to the music of Ennio Morricone in its debut volume .

In addition, various book series and individual publications appear in edition text + kritik, which deal with various topics in literature, music, film or other aspects of the humanities. Own ranks devote himself as the Exilforschung , avant -Phänomenen after 1945 ( NeoAvantgarden ), the history of German film critics ( FILM & WRITING ) or the use of the film heritage ( film heritage ). The Writing elsewhere series , edited by Renate Oesterhelt, focuses on contemporary foreign-language authors. The early modern texts are the only fiction series from the publisher who deal with the beginnings of modern literature .

Another focus of the publishing program can be found in the numerous studies on Arno Schmidt . The periodical Bargfelder Bote , published since 1972, is particularly prominent and extensive, edited by Jörg Drews until 2009 and by Friedhelm Rathjen since his death . In addition, various reference works appear, most of which are available on the nachschlage.net portal . Here you can also access the content of TEXT + KRITIK and Bargfelder Bote online . In contrast to many other reference works, the loose-leaf encyclopedias of edition text + kritik are continually being continued.

As early as 1999, the KLG was presented as the first reference work on CD-ROM at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The program has been gradually digitalized since 2013. New publications from central series (including the film concepts , the CineGraph book and the magazine TEXT + KRITIK) are now available as e-books in addition to the print version .
