Jan Distelmeyer

Jan (Hendrik) Distelmeyer (* 1969 in Bielefeld ) is a German media scholar and film critic .

Life

Distelmeyer studied German , media studies and philosophy and received his doctorate in 2002 on the subject of auteur films . From 2002 to 2004 he was responsible for the conception of the International Film History Congress of CineGraph in Hamburg and then edited the books with the lectures.

Since 2005 he has been teaching European Media Studies at the University of Potsdam and the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences ; initially as a visiting professor and research assistant at the University of Potsdam, since 2010 he has been professor for theory and history of technical media at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. From autumn 2007 to autumn 2008 he represented the professorship for media studies with a focus on media aesthetics / media culture at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig .

He is the author of numerous film reviews such as for epd film , the taz , Spex , The Time , Spiegel Online , Jungle World .

Jan Distelmeyer is the younger brother of the musician Jochen Distelmeyer . He lives in Berlin with his wife and daughter.
