Muut

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Muut was the personification of death in the culture of the Cahuilla , an Indian tribe that lives on the southern border of California with Mexico . He was depicted as an owl. Since in this culture death was seen as something natural and a part of life, it was not a terrifying figure, but rather a mediator.
