Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ is the name of a famous concert hall on the south bank of the IJ in Amsterdam. Its main building is used for classical music performances. The address is Piet Heinkade 1.

history

The Muziekgebouw was opened in 2005 as the successor to the music center for contemporary music De Ijsbreker . His first musical director (until 2008) was Jan Wolff . Tino Haenen has been running the venue since then. Affiliated are a café, which is only open to concert-goers during concerts, and a restaurant.

The Bimhuis as the central venue for jazz and improvised music in Amsterdam with an average of 150 to 200 performances is part of the Muziekgebouw. It is a black box protruding on poles to the side of the main building, the glass facade of which allows a view of the old town from the inside.
