MySQL Workbench is a database -Modellierungswerkzeug, the database design , modeling, creating and editing (maintenance) of MySQL databases in a surrounding area integrated. It is the successor of the now discontinued DBDesigner 4 from FabForce, Workbench can import the XML models from DBDesigner and should run on every X Window System as well as under MS Windows.
The first beta version was available from November 19, 2007. The version number of the current versions is only adapted to the current beta version number of MySQL itself. MySQL Workbench is offered both as a “Community Edition” under the GPL and with additional functionality as a “Standard Edition” commercially in the form of an annual subscription.
