Certificate of Identity

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the German customs system , a certificate of identity serves to clearly identify a certain - usually valuable - object, i. H. formally prove his identity . Under customs law , it serves as proof that the item in question has been purchased in the EU or has already been taxed there.

use

When importing goods into Germany, in particular goods not acquired in the customs area of the European Union , import duties must be paid for these on a regular basis . However, if a certificate of identity can be presented for an object to be imported, the import of this object is duty-free.

Issuing a certificate of identity is therefore particularly advisable for valuable personal items if they are to be carried out for a certain period of time - for example as part of a trip - and then re-imported.
