coercion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Coercion generally refers to an inadmissible use of force or threat that forces the victim to take an action that he does not want. The term is to be viewed critically in relation to the terms coercion and violence, in legal language the Vis absoluta ("overwhelming violence", especially physical) and the Vis compulsiva ("bending violence", which goes in the direction of psychological compulsion), and is judged very difficultly in the case law.
