NSH-Motorradbau Nöding & Sons Hersfeld was a German motorcycle manufacturer from Hersfeld .
Under the name NSH ( Nöding & Söhne, Hersfeld ) around 700 motorcycles were manufactured between 1923 and 1929  .

history

The company was founded in 1890 by Adam Nöding. The company A. Nöding & Sons traded in automobiles and motorcycles of the brands De Dion-Bouton , NAG and Brennabor , bicycles were also produced and sold, repairs carried out and a driving school and rental cars were offered.

From 1923 onwards, our own motorcycle brand, the NSH series, was produced by hand at the customer's request. In 1929 its own production was stopped, but the company continued to exist as a vehicle dealer and repairer.

NSH motorcycle series

In total only about 700 motorcycles were built by hand. The machines were considered solid, modern and elegant. Motorcycle construction began in 1923 with an overhead 185 cc machine, the single-cylinder engine of which was manufactured by Paqué in Augsburg . A similar 198 cc version followed in 1924. When Paqué ceased to be a supplier in 1925, NSH switched to side-controlled 346 and 498 cm³ JAP engines and 122, 147, 173, 242, 346 cm³ Villiers two-stroke engines. In 1927, NSH was the only German motorcycle manufacturer to install the 344 cm³ parallel two-stroke engine from Villiers as standard. This engine was also installed by Francis-Barnett (England), Monet et Goyon (France), La Mondial (Belgium) and MT (Austria). The chassis were tubular steel frames typically English construction. Saddle tanks were installed as early as 1928 .

Several motorcycles are still owned by the family, including one with a 350 cm³ Sturmey Archer engine and another with a V-twin engine from MAG ( Motosacoche ) with 600 cm³ (MKB 2C12).

Remarks

  1. Even before 1923, individual NSH motorcycles were built, but at that time without their own company logo, but only with the NSH 1923 lettering, motorcycle construction was registered.
  2. Even after the end of 1929, individual machines were still assembled from stocks (at least until 1931).
