NAD Electronics, or NAD for short , is a former British manufacturer of medium to high-priced hi-fi equipment founded in 1972 , which has been part of the Canadian Lenbrook Group since 1999 . NAD is an acronym for the self-imposed claim to want to open up a “New Acoustic Dimension”, that is, a new acoustic dimension.

In order to meet this requirement, all devices have been and are optimized according to sound-relevant criteria and rather unimportant, potentially sound-damaging equipment features have been omitted. This procedure, which soon also led to a comparatively simple exterior of the device (see in particular the pictures NAD 3060 and NAD 304 ), corresponds to the motto “Music first” or “The focus is on music”. The devices are now developed in the Canadian headquarters, while production takes place in different countries.

In addition to the classic, two-channel audio devices, NAD now also offers multi-channel audio-video devices for home theater systems, including multi-format players for the high-quality audio formats DVD-Audio and SACD . In some countries, e.g. B. Switzerland, NAD speakers are also available that were developed with the support of PSB Speakers, another company in the Lenbrook Group.
