NERIT was the state broadcaster of Greece. NERIT started on May 4, 2014 and replaced the interim broadcasting company DT, which replaced the broadcasting company ERT , which was closed in 2013 . NERIT (ΝΕΡΙΤ) stood for New Greek Radio, Internet and Television (Νέα Ελληνική Ραδιοφωνία, Ίντερνετ και Τηλεόραση). It last broadcast on June 10, 2015 and was absorbed into it after the ERT was restarted.

history

A black screen was broadcast following the closure of ERT by the Greek government. On July 10, 2013, EDT began broadcasting as a replacement. The name of the station, which initially started as EDT, was changed shortly afterwards to DT (Dimosia Tileorasi). DT broadcast a minimal program that mostly consisted of repetitions.

After a planning phase, NERIT began broadcasting on May 4, 2014. The new radio took over the former ERT office building. NERIT employed around 700 people.

NERIT CEO Giorgos Prokopakis was dismissed from the supervisory board on May 6, 2014, and his successor, Antonis Makridimitris, and managing director Rodolfos Moronis resigned from their functions on September 11, 2014 in connection with public disputes about the station's political and editorial independence.

In December 2014 NERIT became a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) .
