NEWSru.com

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NEWSru.com (formerly NTVRU.com ) is a Russian news website.

history

Originally, the side of the website of the Russian television was NTV at the address ntv.ru . It has existed in its current form since August 2000, when the thematic focus changed from information via the NTW station to the publication of news. The operator of the site was (formerly on behalf of NTW) the company Memonet , which belonged to the Media-Most -Holding.

When the television station NTW was taken over by the state-owned Gazprom-Media AG under questionable circumstances in April 2001 , its website remained in the possession of Wladimir Gussinski , until then the owner of NTW, as it did not legally belong to the television station. In October 2002 the site changed its name and address from ntv.ru to newsru.com . The address ntv.ru was given to the television station for use.

editorial staff

The main editorial office of NEWSru.com is based in Moscow . Since December 2005, there has also been a representative in Israel , the editorial team of which runs newsru.co.il , which is aimed at Russian-speaking Israelis . In April 2007 a branch office was set up in Ukraine . It published international and Ukrainian news in Russian and Ukrainian on the newsru.ua website . After almost ten years, in February 2017, the Ukrainian side was discontinued. The reason for this is not known.

Political orientation

In contrast to the dominant media in Russia (especially the major TV channels), the side is not under the direct or indirect influence of the Kremlin. In order to protect against access by government bodies, all content is stored on a server in the USA .
