Eger small area

The small area of Eger ( Hungarian Egri kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) in the east of Heves County in northern Hungary until the end of 2012 . As a result of the administrative reform at the beginning of 2013, all 17 localities were taken over into the following district of Eger (Hungarian Egri járás ). The new district was strengthened by 5 villages (with 3,330 inhabitants) from the small area Bélapátfalva .

At the end of 2012, 82,911 people lived in an area of ​​522.88 km². The most populous small area had the highest population density in the county with 159 inhabitants / km² .

The administrative seat was in the only city Eger (54,867 Ew.). The county capital also had county rights (Hungarian megyei jogú város ). The second largest village was the large municipality (Hungarian nagyközség ) Verpelét with 3,839 inhabitants. This and the other 15 municipalities (Hungarian község ) had an average population of 1,753 (on an area of ​​26.92 km²).
