The Eger District (Hungarian Egri járás ) is a district in the east of Heves County in northern Hungary . It borders in the north on the Bélapátfalva district and in the west on the Pétervására and Gyöngyös districts and in the south on the Füzesabony district . Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county forms the border to the east .

history

The district was created in the course of the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013 as the successor to the small area of the same name (Hungarian Egri kistérség ) with all 17 municipalities. Additional 5 communities from the small area Bélapátfalva to the north enlarged the area by 4% of the population (3,330 Ew.) Or 15.1% of the area (79.17 km²).
