Felsőtárkány [ ˈfɛl.ʃøː.ˌtaːr.kaːɲ ] is a Hungarian municipality located on the Tárkány brook and on Imókő and Vöröskő in the small area of Eger within Heves county . It is located around 9 km northeast of Eger at the entrance to the Bükk National Park ( Hungarian " beech "), the hills of which surround the place.
history
Felsőtárkány was first mentioned in 1261 under the names Oltarkan and Feltarkan. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the districts Alsótárkány and Felsőtárkány ("Niedertárkány" or "Obertárkány") were attested. In Felsőtárkány 1330-1335 a Charterhouse was built.
In 1526 the Ottomans raided the settlement and completely destroyed it, so that the place was a desert until 1577 . In 1634 it was owned by the church until the middle of the 20th century. As a result, the residents were serfs from 1694. The Bishop of Eger , Ferenc Barkóczy , had the Fourcontrasti Castle and a Nazarene monastery built around 1750 , of which only remains on the Barátrét ("Monk's Meadow") have survived.
Bishop Karl Eszterházy had the monastery church built between 1785 and 1790. The altars were created in 1793 and the sculptures were completed in 1783.
The reservoir, built in 1920, draws its water from the Szikla spring ("rock spring").
The Second World War ended here on December 10, 1944. An agricultural production cooperative was founded in 1950. In 1992 the sewer system was completed.

Partnership with Dickenschied
A partnership has existed between Felsőtárkány and the Hunsrück community Dickenschied since August 19, 1993 . It came about when, as a result of the hurricane " Wiebke ", which caused a lot of damage in January 1990, many workers were brought from Sweden, Austria and Hungary to clean up the forests of the Soonwald and Lützelsoons , and in particular workers from Felsőtárkány, which is 90 years old Percent is forested, in the Dickenschieds holiday apartments for a year. From the first private contacts a relationship arose between the villages, which led to the parish partnership. There are connections between several associations. A music association, two kindergartens and a school are supported by the partner community.
