NIGFET ( English non-insulated-gate field-effect transistor , dt. » Field effect transistor with non-insulated control electrode«) is the name of a group of field effect transistors in which the current flow is controlled by an applied control voltage across the flow direction. The applied voltage creates space charge zones that reduce the conductivity of the transistor and thereby influence the flow of electrical current.

Different types of NIGFET are:

  • JFET (Engl. Junction field-effect transistor , JFET)
  • Metal-semiconductor-FET (English metal semiconductor field-effect transistor , MeSFET)
