National Radio Company of Ukraine Symphony Orchestra (usually short: NRCU Symphony Orchestra ; Ukrainian spelling: Симфонічний Оркестр НРКУ ; in English: National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine ) is the international name of the radio orchestra of the Ukrainian state radio company Natsionalna Radiokompanya Ukraïny .

history

The newly established orchestra of the then Ukrainian Radio Center made its first public appearance as part of the Radio Theater on October 5, 1929. After an extremely positive review, this concert soon became one of the highlights of the country's cultural life. Under the direction of Yakiv Rozenshteyn , the 45 members of the Kharkiv Orchestra were most famous musicians. On October 14, the orchestra opened its first symphonic circle around works by Peter Tchaikovsky with his Symphony No. 5 in E minor and Suite No. 3 in G major.

Due to political upheavals and internal changes, the orchestra moved its location to the new capital of Ukraine, Kiev , and increased its membership to 60 musicians. As the last state-sponsored orchestra to devote exclusively to symphonic works, the ensemble began producing for international record labels in addition to its radio recordings. Concerts continued to take place, the video recordings of which soon turned out to be particularly commercially successful and noticeably increased the orchestra's financial resources.

The orchestra received the honorary title for associations for its services to the maintenance of the Eastern European musical tradition, especially the Ukrainian one, with over 10,000 productions, and academic status was recognized for its services to the development of musical art in Ukraine.

Over the years the orchestra has worked with internationally renowned conductors such as Mykola Kolessa , Natan Rakhlin , Theodore Kuchar and Aram Gharabekian and has visited countries such as Germany , Italy , France , Spain , Poland , South Korea , Iran and Algeria on concert tours .
