Na Guardis off the coast of the Colonia de Sant Jordi

The small island of Na Guardis off the coast of Colonia de Sant Jordi was the place of the first Punic colony off the Balearic island of Mallorca , which was founded in the 4th century BC. Founded and between 130 and 120 BC. Was conquered by Roman legions .

On the highest point of the island lie the remains of an elongated rectangular building that is divided into two unequal units. Access to the port in the north of the island should facilitate the storage of goods that arrived with the ships. The presence of household ware found during Victor M. Guerrero Ayuso's excavation shows that the building was also used to make vases, plates and other clay objects. Around the house were workshops (with a building sacrifice in the foundation) with a furnace for metal processing and corresponding outbuildings. Two ancient ships have also sunk here.
