features

The beetles are about 12 to 15 millimeters long. The torso, head and legs are ocher (light brown to yellow). The elytra, the sides of the pronotum and the antennae are dark blue or dark brown. There are 4 ribs on the wing covers, whereby the 3rd can be shortened or completely absent.

The beetle species occurs in large parts of Europe and in temperate Asia as far as east China. Germany: Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, North Rhine-Westphalia. HORION (1956) knew only very few Central European sites, from Germany only five from Baden. In the meantime, the conspicuous species has become much more common and is even very numerous in some areas. In Germany, Naceredes carniolica is mainly sighted in the climatically mild Upper Rhine Rift and on the Lower Rhine .

Preferred habitats are pine forests, mixed forests and forest edges. The beetles feed on pollen. They fly from early May to late August. The larvae are found on stumps of pine trees ( Pinus ).
