Sustainability strategy North Rhine-Westphalia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the sustainability strategy of North Rhine-Westphalia (also sustainability.nrw ), the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is committed to implementing the goals of sustainable development . This sustainability strategy fits into the corresponding strategy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the other federal states and is derived from the goals for sustainable development of the UN .

history

The state cabinet of North Rhine-Westphalia decided in September 2015 to draft a sustainability strategy, which started a participation process. The NRW sustainability strategy was then adopted in June 2016.

Part of the strategy is a target and indicator system for 19 fields of action with which the state government (mostly up to 2030) sets targets for political issues. This was preceded by a consultation process with non-governmental organizations, who commented on the draft strategy and proposed additions and amendments.

The development of the indicators is prepared by the State Statistical Office ( IT.NRW ) and published on the Internet.

The sustainability strategy is to be updated every four years.

The new state government has decided to revise the strategy by the beginning of 2019, in particular to improve the interaction with the new German sustainability strategy from 2017. In addition, it is to be examined how topics such as mobility and education can be given greater consideration in the strategy. A new indicator report is also to be published in 2019.
