Nachum of the Medes
Nachum the Medes (Hebrew נחום המדי, Nachum ha-Madi ; before 40- after 70) was a Jewish legal scholar and Tannait of the 1st generation. In the Babylonian Talmud there are six tracts from him.
It is not certain whether he came from the media or his parents. He is said to have been a respected judge in Jerusalem before its destruction in 70 . He survived the disaster and was perhaps afterwards a member of the Synhedrion in Jawne .
Three of his treatises were rejected by the later Amora .
He was possibly identical to Nachum the Old, whose grave is said to have been in Kefar Nachum in the 14th century .
